Maybe you have the impression that all you can do is sit back and wait for terrible things to happen, but that’s not accurate. We have the choice of adapting to the impact of climate change.

We’re already surrounded by many adaptations. Japan's national and local governments are taking action, as are businesses. We need to do the same. You might be contributing to reducing the negative impact of climate change in ways you don’t realize. Here is a short list of actions to reduce the impact of climate change, some of which we can do:

After reading all this, you might be thinking that no matter what impacts climate change might have, we’ll be okay as long as we can adapt.

You’re right in a small way, but wrong in a big way. You’re right that we do have to adapt to the impacts of climate change. The concern is that we may not have the time or technology we need to adapt if climate change continues moving at the same pace that it has been.

That’s why mitigation and adaptation are both important for us.
