Even if a business is disrupted by natural disaster or incident caused by climate change, it is desirable for related enterprises and other stakeholders that important business operations not be interrupted, and that even if interrupted, that normal operations are resumed within the shortest possible time. Business continuity is also a strategic issue at management level for companies to protect themselves from the loss of customers to other companies from critical breaks in production, a decline in market share, and damage to their reputation.

A Business Continuity Plan (BCP), entails securing workspaces and back-up systems, getting core personnel on-site as soon as possible, and ensuring that all employees are confirmed safe. BCPs should be tailored to suit the nature and the size of the business, and can be implemented without a large expenditure of funds.
