Adaptation activity

In conjunction with commercial property developers, the Saitama prefectural government has supported the construction of model housing developments with features designed to combat the heat island effect. The prefectural government partially subsidizes the cost of developing residential areas with heat mitigation measures. The subsidized projects include greening measures, housing insulation, installation of cooling devices, environmental pavement technologies, and proposals for new heat island countermeasures.

※ Saitama Prefecture has supported the construction of new model housing developments annually. FY 2016: Polus Group “Wind and Green Town Shiraoka”; FY 2017: Misawa Homes Co., Ltd. Owners' Hill Toda Ryoku Terrace"; Fiscal 2018: Sekisui House, Ltd. "Common Life Nishi-Omiya II"
