Adaptation Planning Guidance for ISO Local Governments and Communities

National Institute for Environmental Studies is participating in the international standard ISO. Thirteen countries participated in the Working Group ISO TC207/SC7/WG12 of the International Standards (Technical Specifications) to provide guidance on the formulation of adaptation plans for local governments and communities, which began in fiscal 2017. Yasuaki Hijioka, deputy director of the Center for Climate Change Adaptation, serves as the Convener.
In the first year, a draft Working Group (WD0) was prepared in Tokyo, and in the following year, a WD1 was prepared at the ROK meeting in May 2018. WD2 was completed at the UK meeting held from November 14 to 16, in which Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, and China participated. I am currently writing the final draft, WD3.
This standard is scheduled to be published in autumn 2019, and further discussions will be held within the authors in preparation for the German Bond meeting to be held in the spring.
