Following the enactment of the Climate Change Adaptation Law in December 2018, Ministry of the Environment and National Institute for Environmental Studies co-sponsored the International Symposium on Climate Change Adaptation Law in Tokyo on December 4, "How Are Regions Prepared for Climate Change?"
Following lectures on the impacts of climate change and Japan's efforts to adapt to climate change (Ministry of the Environment and National Institute for Environmental Studies), as well as efforts to adapt to other countries (the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Indonesia), panel discussions were held with panelists from Saitama and Tokushima Prefectures, with the aim of promoting regional adaptation. It was a very lively symposium with about 280 participants.
