The Second Workshop on Climate Change Adaptation Promotion by Private Business Operators-Climate Risk Information and Examples of its Use-was held.

On August 2, 2019, the Second Workshop on Climate Change Adaptation Promotion by Private Business Operators, co-sponsored by Ministry of the Environment and National Institute for Environmental Studies, was held. At the time of receiving the pre-application, 150 full members were thanked, and on the day, about 170 participants, including those concerned, attended the meeting, making it a great success.

The program consists of three parts, and in [Part 1: Current Trends in Adaptation of Private Businesses], Ministry of the Environment and National Institute for Environmental Studies gave lectures on their respective efforts to promote climate-change adaptation.

[Part 2: Examples and Challenges of Utilization of Climate Risk Information] We then delivered lectures to Key Coffee Co., Ltd., Tokyo Subway Co., Ltd., and Nisshin Flour Milling Group, Inc. on their respective initiatives for adaptation using climate risk information. At the panel discussions, discussions were held on issues related to each company's efforts, expectations and requests from the national government and research institutes, etc.

[Part 3: Examples and Issues of Analyzing TCFD Scenarios] At that time, I gave a lecture on the Project to Support the Analysis of Climatic Risks and Opportunities in line with TCFD, which is being implemented by Ministry of the Environment. Next, Tokyu Real Estate Holdings Co., Ltd. and MOL Corporation, which participated in this project, gave lectures on their respective initiatives. In the panel discussion, issues in conducting scenario analysis and expectations and requests from the national government and research institutes were discussed.
