First day of Adaptation Futures meeting
Session 87, "How Adaptive Platforms Based on the Web"
On the first day of Adaptation Futures, 18, there were sessions on platforms aimed at promoting adaptation. A-PLAT operated by National Institute for Environmental Studies also falls under these platforms.
The UK platform "UKCIP" is a pioneer in this trend, led by Roger Street, the University of Oxford, who runs it. As an opening greeting, Mr. Street said, "The role of platforms to support adaptation should focus not only on building the Web, but also on direct activities based on it." Presentations from Brazil and Ireland introduced their websites and supporting activities to help them promote adaptation in their own countries.
The Swedish-based "weADAPT" also stated the importance of building global networks to consolidate adaptation activities around the world and to connect people with one another. Based on the knowledge gained from these sessions, A-PLAT aims to further expand the scope of its activities.

Climate Risk Assessment as a Tool for Strengthening Adaptation Measures
Session 179 "Climate Risk Assessment as a Tool for Strengthening Adaptation"
A session on climate risk assessment was held by the German GIZ, which is engaged in research and practice in the field of adaptation.
In promoting adaptation, the importance of repeatedly implementing adaptation measures and risk assessment was demonstrated, and a participatory risk assessment scheme was explained for this purpose. It was also emphasized that risk assessment does not solve everything, and that it is important to use evaluation results and decide what measures to take to avoid risks and achieve objectives. Later, we introduced examples in Thailand, Madagascar, and Benin. Maybe because it was the first day, a large number of participants listened carefully to each country's explanation.
