Adaptation Futures 2018 held in South Africa, where drought continues
Adaptation Futures is an international conference on adapting to the impacts of climate change held once every two years.
The fifth round of this meeting, following the 2016 Dutch city of Rotterdam, will be held for four days from June 18 in Cape Town, South Africa.

Currently, in South Africa, posters calling for water conservation in airports and towns have been pasted here and there due to drought for three consecutive years. Cape Town is limited to 50 liters of water per person per day in a crisis situation with a water saving level of 5. This drought may have postponed Adaptation Futures, but the rainy season began two weeks prior to the meeting. As a result, the amount of water stored in the dams recovered slightly, and there were no noticeable restrictions on water supply in major hotels, etc.
People gathering at the meeting will also exchange views on the importance of adaptation measures to impacts contributed by climate change, such as the current drought.
