Venue | Ireland / Dublin |
National Institute for Environmental Studies Climate Change Adaptation Centre operates a A-PLAT that centrally disseminates information on climate change and its impacts and supports domestic adaptation initiatives. These efforts are also being carried out abroad, and National Institute for Environmental Studies held the first International Conference on Climate-Change Adaptation last year in Tokyo to share its knowledge.
The Second Conference, hosted by Coke University in Ireland, was attended by the countries of Ireland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the European Union. Austria and Canada joined the Conference to actively exchange opinions on how climate services provided by the platform should be and how climate services should be coordinated with users, while referring to the case studies of each country.
From Japan, Mr. Yasuaki Hijioka, Deputy Director-General of the Center for Climate Change Adaptation, attended the meeting and reported on the progress of papers being written based on the findings obtained at the first meeting. He also introduced the cooperation between the Center for Climate Change Adaptation and the Local Climate Change Adaptation Center.
This conference, which is expanding the scope of its activities, will lead to the launch of international projects by EU member states in the UK, the Netherlands, and Ireland and Japan, Canada, and Australia. It is scheduled to discuss the details at the third conference to be held in National Institute for Environmental Studies in Tsukuba City in November.
